Álvaro Alejandro López
Álvaro Alejandro López lives and works in Mexico City. He studied Philosophy and Literature at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He worked in the publishing industry, making photographs for book covers, as well as publishing poetry and children’s books. He currently works full time on photographic projects, which have been exhibited in Mexico, Japan, USA, Canada, Spain, Belgium, Iceland, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands. In 2019 he was selected as one of the winners of the Arte en la Red Casa de América, Madrid. Although his photographic training has been mainly self- taught, as a boy he was introduced to fine art photography by his great uncle. As a professional museographer, his great uncle had books, prints, documents and negatives of different authors with whom he worked: Edward Weston, Cartier Bresson, Robert Capa, David Seymour, Manuel Álvarez Bravo. His great uncle also had a collection of cameras and darkroom equipment to experiment with. Later, using parts from digital cameras, he built a camera and entered the digital world.
