Create your own sugar skull art to honor a loved one, come make art with lots of bright colors and great shapes. Meet new friends, enjoy some creativity, and celebrate Día De Los Muertos! I will provide all materials and tools necessary to complete your project. This is a two day workshop. The first day you will create your own sugar skull using wood, glass and ceramic tiles, broken pottery and found objects. The second day you will finish your mosaic with grout, a felt back and hooks for hanging. This will be an indoor art project. Hope to see you there😊

Aloha!! Creativity has been my journey. It all started with my mother. She would get out the paints and frame our creations to sell in the driveway when we were kids. What a beautiful way to meet the world. Mosaic entered my life in 1996, when I was lucky enough to attend Dale Chihuly’s “Pilchuck” glass school in Stanwood Washington. There were many great opportunities to sell art while honing my skills. I personally sold mosaics on Thursdays at the late Kona Village resort for years, had a great customer following at the Gallery on Bainbridge Island Washington, and was commissioned to create a mosaic for Islandwood, an environmental education center also on Bainbridge Island. After a 17 year hiatus to raise my child, I am back at it. I have taught classes at various locations throughout the years. The Bellevue Art Museum, community spaces, private residences and in my personal studio. It’s a tedious art form that has grounded me in unexpected and magical ways!

For several years, I have seen Zoe Hams's Mosaic Art for auction at charity fundraisers held in Arivaca, Arizona. Her art pieces were always the envy of the auctions. I recently had the opportunity to attend a small mosaic class with her, and I truly enjoyed it. Zoe had multiple pieces she was working on all in different stages of completion. This really helped me envision my art pieces as it progressed. She spent individual time with each of us, giving assistance and tips as needed. I love how my Mosaic art pieces turned out and look forward to attending another one of her classes again. Thank you Zoe Hams!

Loved how there were visual examples of each step of the process for us to see before we began. Seeing the process took a lot of the self-doubt away that I walked in with. Zoe was also such an awesome teacher! Very good at explaining how she has done various parts of the process in the past, as well as the little details that many instructors don't know their students might benefit from learning. Another thing that I really loved was the fact that the whole class was in two parts, it allowed enough time for us to really take the information and techniques she was teaching and apply them thoughtfully our mosaics. It was a stellar experience!
